As a world leader in diagnostic imaging for general radiology and mammography, Barco has helped many healthcare organizations improve the speed and accuracy of cancer, disease and injury diagnosis to improve patient outcomes:
Centro de Diagnosticos Brasil pioneered breast tomosynthesis technology in South America in 2010, following an initiative by Aron Belfer, M.D. and radiologist. Always a frontrunner, Dr. Belfer believes that breast tomosynthesis is the next great technology in mammography. To ensure good results, both the breast tomosynthesis system and the diagnostic display system have to be first class. “I’ve tried several other displays but only Barco’s Mammo Tomosynthesis 5MP offers the brightness, high resolution, contrast and speed of processing that this technology requires. I’m now looking forward to trying the Coronis Uniti,” he says.
Brazil’s Institute for Research and Education in Diagnostic Medicine (IPmed) comprises three specialist schools and Digital Education Laboratories (LEDs) where medical professionals receive theoretical and hands-on training in radiology. In line with its lofty objectives, IPmed chose the most advanced PACS and visualization technology available on the market: the first LED features 25 Barco medical display systems.
The Brazilian Army completed an extensive Health Service Revitalization Plan, including a thorough transformation of the Army’s healthcare equipment from analog to digital. The Army selected 150 Nio diagnostic display systems for installation in its 20+ military hospitals located throughout the country. “State-of-the-art equipment can help us diagnose patients more accurately, while gaining precious time. It will also boost the image of the Army, which may trigger and encourage physicians and medical staff to join our healthcare teams,” said General Jaime Mendes da Costa, Healthcare Director of the Brazilian Army.
